NODE Academy

NODE Academy will be a tool for supporting NODE companies with continual development of their expertise, while also confirming southern Norway as one of the country’s best technology regions.

Node Academy is not a physical building or a large centre – it is a coordinating link between the companies’ needs and the knowledge suppliers. The idea is that by coordinating the companies’ needs for continuing and further education, the scope and quality will increase and costs will reduce, because the number of companies and people who want the same training and education will increase.

Since it started in 2009, more than 200 students have participated in courses/continuing education via the NODE network. Examples of programmes that have been developed are:

In partnership with UiA, continuing education is offered in logistics and project management, which will eventually lead to a Master’s degree in the subject.
A Master’s programme in innovation and business development has been developed in partnership with Kristiansand Business School.
We have a partnership with UiA regarding the provision of single modules in mechatronics as a course. There is good cooperation with the resource staff and education departments at NODE companies that want to support teaching in mechatronics in partnership with UiA. Courses in digital technology and fluid mechanics have been piloted in partnership with UiA.
Refresher courses have been held in English, as well as short project management courses.

The following courses are planned for autumn 2011:

Technical English	NCE NODE	A practical refresher course in English. A 4-day course over 4 weeks. Starts when necessary
Production and stock control	University of Agder	This is course 4 in the higher education programme in Logistics and Project Management, which we have founded with the University of Agder. It can be used as the basis of a Master’s programme. 10 credits
Innovation and Business Development	Norwegian Business School	A new course is planned for the start of 2012. The course will be conducted in partnership with BI The programme is worth 30 credits
Courses in Design, Modeling and Simulation of mechatronic systems	Campus Grimstad	The course is titled MAS601 - Design, Modeling and Simulation of mechatronic Systems, and is part of the PhD program in Mechatronics. course will be held in English. Day 1-3: 23 to 25 November, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Day 4-5: 1 to 2 December, 08:00 - 16:00
Courses in Regulatory	Two courses at the Bi Kristiansand	The objectives of the RVK program is that participation in RVK courses will provide: Detailed knowledge of the regulatory structure and content, depth of the active use of legislation to promote continuous improvement of safety, in security, environment, health, environment and economic / material values.
Course in logistics and project management (UiA)	UiA	Ability to take the exam with 10 credits
Mechatronics EVU and individual courses	UiA	The course is built around you who are in job
Migranorsk	Interactive	Interactive and web-based program for adults who want to learn the Norwegian language and Norwegian society
An Introduction to Oil and Gas Contract Law	Sørlandets Kunnskapspark	2 day seminar. Contracts in the oil and gas sector
NODE courses in ABS regulations	Radisson Blu (SAS) Caledonien Hotel	Rules for classification of drilling systems
A course out of this world	NOV - Skibåsen 2 Kristiansand. Sørlandsparken	Cultural Awareness with Pellegrino Riccardi
